My coworkers wanted sushi last minute so this was the closest spot to our office. It's a little unassuming as it's tucked within a row of 4 others stores.
It's not super big but it can host about 20 people max. They have lots of options between Bento Boxes to fried sushi. It took a while to figure out what I wanted because of the variety...but that's a good thing.
They were pretty quick with our meals and we all got our food around the same time.
It was my first time having Miso soup so I'm wasn't sure what to expect, but it was good and a perfect appetizer before the meal!
I got the spider roll with a side of sticky white rice!! Ate all of it and was pretty full. The price was pretty reasonably for what you get and we came at a good time when foot traffic was low so the four of us got to enjoy our lunch privately.
I would come back here again especially since it's so close to our office! -

Came here to try their sushiritto and thought it was just ok. I ordered the bulgogi and their regular sushiritto and felt like there was just too much rice. We weren't huge fans of the bulgogi burrito and didn't think the flavors blended well together. I didn't get to dine in, just ordered Togo but the staff was friendly and the service was fast. I got my order within 5 mins so I can't complain about that. After looking at their menu I would probably come back and try something else. I'll update my review after I visit again

They are still using dark Chinese soy sauce on To-Go orders which tastes horrible on sushi. They need a lighter Japanese "shoyu" soy sauce.
It's a giveaway that there's no Japanese chef (or someone trained in Japan) there to set them straight. It's not authentic. The food there isn't authentic Japanese in general, but since most customers don't know this and don't care, it doesn't matter.
That being said, this place is a great bang for the buck and I do crave it from time to time. You cannot complain about the prices and the freshness is top notch, which is the main concern.
Last night I had tempura in my bento box and the batter was too heavy and eggy and kind of a chore to eat. I didn't enjoy it. Which is weird because Japanese tempura batter is usually so light and delicious.
I've been here enough times that they recognize me, so I do like the place. I give 4.5 stars. I can't round up to 5 because I feel like that would be dishonest of me.
Anyways, because I'm cheap, I'll be back and hopefully they don't read this review and get mad at me, lol. I mean, it's Pinole and we'll take what we can get, so I can't be too picky. The sushi rice isn't quite right either. It's not sticky enough. -

Thought I would try this place because it is so close to home. Fish was some of the worst quality I'd ever had at a sushi place. The tuna was flavorless and light pink. I will not be back.

New ownership for the 3rd time! But i think this time, they're sticking! Many many options on the menu and they offer A LOT more rolls. The appetizers are good along w the bulgolgi bowls, their salads to their rolls. They even sell poke bowls now! (Only if they offered brown rice)
They have a lot more tables for dine-in area now and even tho they share a small parking lot w other businesses, there's never a problem finding a spot. This is definitely my go-to spot for sushi on that side of Pinole because Happy Sashimi across is the street is just way too over priced.
Just a heads up, they close between 3:30-4:30 for lunch!
